Hi everyone, Aliya here. I would really like to start blogging again, so why not just start but with something light. *wink*
It's lunch hour and "Nak makan mana?" is always a burning question in any language, at least in Malaysia as we are spoiled for choices. If you like to move in a group, then everyone has their own preference but the headache continues. Even if you do prefer to lunch alone, that could also put you in at a crossroad.
For a group of my colleagues, they have let fate to decide for them. How?
1. Just 'jalan' to the stalls and stop when you feel like it.
2. Write all possible names of restaurant beloved by everyone in a piece of paper, put them in a bowl and pick them up when whilst blind folded. Even if the restaurant picked is the same as yesterday, so be it.
... yes, to that extend...
I learn from my colleagues who likes to dine out that they like it because they are able to talk something else other than the work with their colleague. These are indeed the people for you see 7-8 hours of your day so establishing a good relationship with them is key. Good relationship could be nurtured not just on the work basis but also beyond that. I agree!
I read one post from LinkedIn recently with this guy perceiving that an hour not going to lunch with colleagues is an hour loss of not socializing or networking. It seems like the post is so well-thought and he almost sounded like an enthusiast for always-dine-out groupie.
While I agree, I disagree. I understand what he meant, however not everybody is an extrovert who constantly like to have people around them. Some are complete introvert and some like the balance in between (me!). There is also the financial aspect to that eating in especially with a packed food is much more cost saving for those who wants to save up. Time is also lost as we have the tendency to loss track of time and topic we are on. It happens.
To me, there is no right or wrong, it is really just a matter of preference.
For me, personally I prefer to eat in. I have had several incidences being called an 'anti-social', clearly those people do not know me enough. Packed lunch or bought earlier; I love the comfort of my own seat so I can steal a few minutes (lies, a good chunk of time) to unwind with my book or blog. Unfold the laptop, catch up on some videos on Youtube.
It is all good...
Let me know in the comments which side do you prefer to be on; #teameatin or #teamdineout ?
